This release gives Administrators the ability to define exactly what fields Staff are required to complete when logging Goals and administering Medications.

Overview

At Giv, one of our core goals is to empower Admins with full control over customization. We've made major progress toward that goal across various modules, and we're now excited to introduce expanded customization options for Goals and Medications.

This release gives Administrators the ability to define exactly what fields Staff are required to complete when logging Goals and administering Medications—ensuring reports align with agency needs, compliance standards, and internal workflows.

  • Field types

  • Field requirements

Creating Custom Goal and Medication Types

How to Create a Custom Goal or Medication Type:

  1. In either the “Goals” card or the “Medications” card, click “+ Add New Type”

  2. On the configuration page, you can:

  • Name the Goal or Medication type

  • Copy an existing type (imports its fields into your new template)

  • Add new fields to tailor reporting requirements

Supported Field Types:

  • Date

  • Signature (Drawn)

  • Checkbox (Yes/No)

  • Short Text

  • Long Text

  • Multiple Choice

  • Photo/Video

  • Caregiver App Field

Once a type is set up, Staff will be prompted to complete the custom fields tied to the selected type when logging a Goal or Medication.

Post-Shift Report

  • When logging a new Goal or Medication from this view:

    • when staff selects the Goal or Medication, associated custom fields appear and must be completed

No Changes to Existing Functionality

  • Existing Goal and Medication views and workflows remain unchanged aside from the inclusion of the Goal and Medication type and custom fields.

  • All prior functionality for viewing, editing, and logging Goals and Medications continues to operate as before.

Summary

With this release, Giv now supports fully customizable Goal and Medicataion types and field configurations—giving agencies greater flexibility and precision in how they document the logging of Goals and administration of Medications.

This is a major step forward in making Goals and Medication reporting both agency-specific and compliance-ready, while preserving the intuitive workflows your teams already know.
