Logging Shift and Client-Specific Notes

How to log shift and client-specific notes in the mobile app.

By default, you must be clocked into your shift and running a service in order to log any notes for that shift. Admins may allow you to enter notes after the shift ends (setting enabled through the Dashboard).

The shift notes listed in the client's profile were added by your admin team through the Giv Dashboard.


Step 1: navigating to shift notes

When on an active shift:

  1. Login to the app

  2. Tap View shift at the top of the Home screen

  3. Select the client under the Clients section

  4. Tap the Notes tile near the top of the screen

Note: If no notes appear, the client has no notes assigned to them in their client profile. Contact your admin team.


Step 2: completing shift notes

  1. After selecting the Notes tile, complete all shift notes by answering each question thoroughly

  2. Tap Save

Notes are stored at the shift level and tied to the client.

Staff may use the microphone feature on their phone to dictate shift notes instead of typing, if preferred.


Required notes

Some shift notes will be required and must be completed before clocking out. If you try to clock out without finishing them, an error will appear at the bottom of the screen. Go back and complete the required shift notes, and then you can clock out.


Adding notes after a completed shift

If enabled by your admin team, you can also go back in later and add shift notes after the shift finishes.

To access completed shifts:

  1. Login to the app

  2. Scroll down to the Shifts section on the Home screen

  3. Select the Past tab

  4. Tap the past shift you want to add notes

  5. Select the client under the Clients section

  6. Tap the Notes tile

  7. Fill out the notes

  8. Tap Save
