Clocking into Scheduled Shifts

If you're a caregiver or DSP assigned to a scheduled shift, here’s how to properly clock in and start services using the mobile app.

Step 1: view your scheduled shift

  1. Open the Giv app

  2. Go to Upcoming Shifts

  3. Tap on the scheduled shift (e.g., Wednesday the 26th, 9 AM – 9 PM with Mike Tyson)

  4. Review shift details, including:

    • Service address

    • Assigned clients

    • Backup caregivers (if any)


Step 2: choose how to clock in

You have two options based on your situation:

Option 1: Clock In Only

  • Tap Clock In if:

    • You're waiting for the client to arrive

    • You’ve arrived early and services haven’t started yet

This begins your time tracking (payroll), but doesn’t start billing yet.


Option 2: clock in & start services

If the client has arrived and services are ready to begin:

  1. Tap Manage Services

  2. Select the appropriate Service Code (e.g., Individual Residential Support)

    • Only services added to the client’s budget will appear

  3. Confirm the client receiving the service

  4. Tap Clock In and Start Services

🧠 This clocks you in for payroll and starts the billing timer for the selected service code.


What happens next?

  • Time is logged for both payroll and billing

  • You’ll be able to:

    • Log goals

    • Record medications

    • Fill out forms and notes during the shift
