Scheduling Recurring Shifts

Recurring shifts allow you to automatically repeat a shift over a defined time period, saving time and reducing manual scheduling.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Step 1: navigate to scheduling

  1. In the sidebar, click Shifts

  2. Select Scheduling

  3. Click Create Shift

Step 2: set date, time, and location

  1. Choose the start date of the recurring shift

  2. Set the start and end time (e.g., 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM)

  3. Enter the service location (address where shift takes place)

  4. Click Save and then click Next

Step 3: add clients and caregivers

  1. Add Clients who will receive services

  2. Assign Primary and Backup Caregivers

    • These caregivers will see the shift in their mobile app

  3. Click Next

Step 4: enable recurrence

  1. On the Review & Assign screen, look for the Repeat Shift or Recurrence option

  2. Choose your recurrence pattern:

    • Daily

    • Weekly (e.g., every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday)

    • Monthly (e.g., every 1st of the month)

  3. Select the end date for the recurring series (e.g., repeat for the next 3 months)

Step 5: assign clients to caregivers

  1. Stay on the Caregivers tab for simplicity

  2. Assign each client to each caregiver (including backups)

This ensures caregivers can see and log activity for those individuals in their app.

  3. Confirm that no red warnings remain

Step 6: book recurring shifts

  • Once everything is set up, click Book Shift(s)

  • All shifts in the recurrence pattern will be created and visible in the Giv system

🧠 Recurring shifts save time and ensure consistency across schedules—especially useful for day programs, weekly routines, or multi-client services.
