Overview
We’re excited to introduce Staff-Only Shifts, a new feature that allows agencies to create shifts without assigning a client. This makes it easier to schedule internal activities like training, paperwork, or meetings—while still maintaining flexibility to add a client later if needed.

Staff-Only Shift Creation
Staff can now create Impromptu shifts without a client at the time of starting the Impromptu shift.Optional Client Assignment

Agency owners and admins can control which staff members are allowed to create or pick up staff-only shifts via enabling and disabling the “Impromptu Shifts” toggle in the “Settings” section of the staff profile.Clear Calendar Visibility

Staff-Only shifts track hours and status just like client shifts, ensuring internal work is properly captured.
How to Create a “Staff Only Shift”
The “Impromptu Shifts” toggle in the Settings section of the staff profile page needs to be enabled
From here, staff can log into the app and start an Impromptu shift as normal
The step following (selecting the clients to be added to the shift) becomes optional
Here the staff can click “Start Shift” and they will see a confirmation popup. Prompting them to confirm that they want to start a “Staff Only Shift”.
Once they confirm, and then clock in they will see the same “shift details” page as normal. Excluding the list of clients on the shift.
Calendar and Post Shift Report
On the calendar on the dashboard and in the post shift report you will see a new badge labelled “Staff Only Shift”

Notes & Next Steps
Enabling the “Impromptu Shifts” toggle in the Settings section of the staff profile page gives that staff the ability to optionally add Clients to the shift they are starting.
This is the first release (v1); future versions will add more granularity around scheduling “Staff Only Shift” permissions around the feature.
