Adding Staff and Caregivers

How to add Staff Members and Caregivers (i.e. DSPs) through the Giv Dashboard.

There are two ways to add staff members: one-by-one or in bulk.


Option 1: add a single staff member

Use this method for quickly adding one or two caregivers at a time.

  1. Click Personnel in the left menu

  2. Click Staff in the left menu

  3. Click + New staff member

  4. Fill in the required fields:

    • First Name

    • Last Name

    • Phone number

    • Email address: if the staff member doesn’t have an email, you can make one up—just be sure to use a unique email. Duplicate emails will be blocked.

    • Staff role: leave it blank if the staff member is a DSP. If the staff member is not a DSP, select the role in the dropdown (select from existing roles or create new role)

  5. Click Invite

Once you hit Invite, an email will be sent to the new staff member to set up their account.


Option 2: upload multiple caregivers via CSV

Use this method for adding multiple caregivers at a time.

  1. Click Personnel in the left menu

  2. Click Staff in the left menu

  3. Click the 3 dots and select Bulk Import DSPs

  4. Download the CSV Template

    • The template includes these columns: First Name, Last Name, Phone number, and Email

  5. Open any spreadsheet program (e.g., Google Sheets, Excel, Numbers) and import the CSV template

  6. Fill out the spreadsheet with your staff member details.

  7. Export or save the file as a .csv format

Once the .csv file is finished:

  1. Return to the Staff page and select Bulk Import DSPs

  2. Click Choose DSP File and select your completed .csv file

  3. Click Submit DSPs

Once submitted, an email will be sent to the new staff members to set up their account.

Important: Make sure every email in your .csv file is unique. If you try to reuse an email already in the system, the upload will fail for that row.


Resending the invite

If you need to resend the invite:

  1. Click Personnel in the left menu

  2. Click Staff in the left menu

  3. Hover over the staff member and click Resend Invitation


Editing a phone number

If you need to update a staff member’s phone number:

  1. Click Personnel in the left menu

  2. Click Staff in the left menu

  3. Search for and select the staff member

  4. Click Edit

  5. Enter the new phone number

  6. Click Save

Once you Save, a new invite email will be sent to the staff member to register that new phone number.


That’s It!

Now your staff and caregivers are ready to:

  • Be assigned to clients

  • Clock in and out using the Giv mobile app

  • Complete shift documentation
